Clinical Analysis of Nursing Care of the Patients in the Intensive Care Unit

Abstract
This study was conducted to obtain clinical data of ICU patients and to identify the range of nursing care and amount of nursing care by the use of TISS. We have statistically analyzed 415 cases of which were admitted to ICU during a period from Jan. 1989 to June 1989 in Kosin Medical Center.
The results were as follows;
1. 31 % among the subjects was from 50 to 59 year old. and then 19 % among the subjects was from 40 to 49 year old. Male patients were more than female patients (1.5:1) 60 % of the subjects was operative case.
2. 58.3 % of the subjects was admitted from other wards and then from emergency room (34.9 %). An average hospitalized days was 3.8 days in ICU. The number of subjects less than 2 days hospitalization was 274 (66.0 %).
3. The number of subjects from General surgery Department was highest (46.5 %), and then internal medicine (29.3 %).
4. Neoplasm among the subject was the most predominent(43.6 %), Digestive disease was in 21.9 %, cardiovascular disease was in 8.7 %.
5. As to hospital day by the diseases, 58 days of injury and posioning among the subjects was The longest, disease of nervous system and sense organ was 4.8 days, cardiovascular disease was 3.8 days.
6. TISS score was classified class I (below 12) and class II (above 13 below 20), class III (above 31 below 30), and class IV (above 31). Class II of the subjects was the highest in all class group. 51.3 % of the subjects was performed active treatment. All subjects were performed monitoring and standard care.
7. As to TISS score by operation, non-operative subjects were more than operative case. The more hospital days were the higher TISS score. As to TISS score by the diseases, 34.8 % of respiratory diseases was the highest in all diseases, and then infections and para sitic disease (27.4 %).
